A wonderful weekend was spent in canberra and surrounds, friday night was my first ever fondue experience, it was interesting, saturday morning was an early start for the canberra balloon fiesta, then in the afternoon (after spending money at kathmandu store sale, i now have a hiking backpack and a thermarest mat) we camped at honeysuckle tracking station camp ground in the namadgi national park, south of canberra, the campground is in the middle of natural bush, with a fireplace, and was very nice. sunday we climbed boomroomba rocks, a 2.5km walk just down the road from the camp ground. monday we headed back towards canberra and visited tidbinbilla tracking station to look at the history of the site, info on the missions they have helped, and some BIG antennas. wonderful. Then we headed to the coast for morton national park, we stayed at a small camp ground near the pigeon house mountain and on tuesday morning, climbed this Peak, a 3km walk that was almost non stop uphill, it raises up 500m, the last section on ladders as you climb the rock. this was a great walk, but it really was hard, I need to get much fitter. Then we came back to sydney and back to normal. thanks christine, it was a great weekend, 😛
